Amazing how certain shorts suit some people but not others. @PMarkey does 200 miles in Funkier.....I just (today) did a 25 in my Funkier and was quite pleased to be finished
Mind you my sit bones do suffer a lot compared to what others say.... .I can only dream of 200 miles.

If you want something for shorter journeys though, Ive recently been trying out some Altura Cadence & Airstream lycra shorts which are fine for a commute. The Airstream is currently on clearance at evans for £21

Altura Airstream
Altura Cadence

regular sizes for the airstream have gone pretty quickly sadly, You either need to be a skinny bloke, a slightly bigger bloke or an even bigger bloke then the slightly bigger bloke.

Not a whole lot of difference between the two - Airstream has more padding in the front for your man bits while the Cadence has less but its not a problem if your not packing two cricket balls in your pants. Ive tried both for commuting and i hardly feel any difference.

Decathlon B'Twin are spot on if you avoid the very cheapest ones in the range, and sensibly priced. I've done 5 hour rides without any problems.
Altura ProGel are also very good.

I also wear the B'Twin ones that are about £25. Been fine for all day rides. I'm sure that Assos ones will be better but there is always going to be some element of trade off between price and quality and, for me, these B'twin ones represent the most appropriate compromise

Another vote for B'Twin - both bibs and plain ol' shorts. Their endurance ones (they have a strange numbering system, iirc, the 700s are the endurance ones) are amazing value.

Bought some Funkier 10 panel shorts from CRC last week and did a 40 miler today and arrived home feeling quite comfortable down below ... result ^_^
What I did notice is the pad in the Funkier is thicker and a bit stiffer than that in my Garneau and Altura longs and you are a bit more aware of it being there, but is in no way uncomfortable to wear. The only small downside is no drawstring so had to occasionally pull them up

They're not too expensive either so will deffo be buying another pair soon.
