I'm not sure why disks are a desirable feature. Conventional brakes are pretty good these days. Disks just add a lot of stuff to faff about with and go wrong. OK, they do save your rims, but I don't use particularly expensive wheels. I've never felt I had a lack of braking power when riding in heavy traffic.

For commuting, I am a big fan of disc brakes. If it is soaking wet, and some numpty has just pulled out in front of you, it is lovely being able to slam on the brakes and now that you will get stopping power instantly.
I have two bikes I use for commuting, one wet and one dry weather bike. I don't miss the disc brakes on the dry bike, as I never use it in the wet, but I'm often glad I'm on my wet bike when it is raining.
