Best free maps for Garmin 800

Thinking about getting a garmin 800 (second hand, basic unit only) and just been reading that the maps supplied (Basecamp?) are pretty useless. Does anyone know the best maps that would be compatible at a reasonable price too?

base maps are useless - free ones work fine though

I got the official garmin ones new from eBay for under £30. Was a while ago but might be worth a search

The DC rainmaker ones are ok but you choose by segment which could be faffy. Garmin official ones you get all of Europe on a mini SD card. Slot in, done

Talkytoaster downloadable maps are great on my 800 and free! Just don't expect the 800 to work out the route for you.

With the official maps it has a habit of working out its own routes for you!
