Hi to All,

Off my last thread, I have decided (with the help of other members) to upgrade to a Cross bike.

Depending if I can get to enrol on a cycle 2 work scheme, I will have a budget between £600-850.

Narrowed down to the following.

Without cycle scheme
Boardman CX Comp Bike
Giant TCX 2 2012

With cycle scheme
Merida Cyclo 3
Pinnacle Arkose One
Cannondale CaadX

Are these the best within this price frame?

Thanks

Saul.

No expert but on paper they seemed some of the better options when I was researching.
Boardman is said to be a good bike, just have to be wary of the Halfords staff.

The Merida 3 I think is alloy forks whereas the Pinnacle and Caadx have carbon which should be more comfortable. Not sure if you're aiming for disc brakes, but the £800 Caadx doesn't have them.

Genesis CdF might also be worth looking at http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genesis/cdf-2014-cyclocross-bike-ec055504 heavier steel frame but plenty of good comments round here about the pricier Croix de Fer version and isn't black.

Specialized and Trek seemed to be be more expensive for the components.

Couple others I saw mentioned but didn't really look into as they weren't viable for me were Norco and Fuji bikes

The Norco seems reasonably kitted out to my eyes and also isn't black!
Both have lower spec'd, cheaper options too.

Then people usually say, go sit on a few and see what you like

Thanks for the heads up. Was in Evans earlier today, got to look at a few. Did like the Norco, there was a specialized one I liked. Will be out again tomorrow to look at a few more.

If in Evans, don't just look at them, go ride them. 1p on a bank card and leave photo ID and you're sorted. Go along in cycling kit so it's comfortable
