This is a good one for cycling uphill. It's got just the right rythm.

there's nowt wrong with Saxon!A brave suggestion, seeing that Saxon are to rock music what shandy bass is to real ale.
This song actually DID inspire me to buy a "proper" bike in 1976 I think it was. Although the bike I got was yellow, not white! Still love this song...
What is the Lilac Harry Quinn reference all about? No reference to it in the song, only the final refrain of "Sturmey-Archer; Campagnolo"With Machineries of Joy a close second, this is the finest cycling song currently in existence. It has to be said though, that new one the OP posted is a welcome addition.
Harry Quinns is the best known bike shop in Liverpool. In th'olden days, to say you had a Harry Quinn was a boast that your bike had an inbuilt superiority. I think he's just thrown the word 'lilac' in though! What is the Lilac Harry Quinn reference all about? No reference to it in the song, only the final refrain of "Sturmey-Archer; Campagnolo"
