I have got the Park tool one as per the second link and they are excellent. They make the job soooooooooooooooooooooo much easier.

I used Park but found the cutters didn't last very long, I email Park about them but got an indifferent answer. I now use BBB's professional ones. and find them very good. BBB also do a cheaper version so do not confuse them if seeking them out.

Knipex linesman pliers. I use an old inner when cutting an outer and an old bit of outer when cutting an inner. clean cuts very little deformation ( which you will get whatever tool you use ) and the inner/outer acts as a former to make sure its usable.

That's a very elegant solution to the problem of pliers crushing the cables (inners and outers) but I must admit I've not ever had a problem caused by the small amount of deformation cause by using Shimano cutters.

Zanussi engineering - the appliance of science ( and engineering principles) . I love problem solving without spending money

I do the same and I use the cable cutter on a set of wire strippers to cut the cables and outers, cuts nice and clean, minimal distortion and you can easily reform the opening to get rid of what little deformation there is, usually I don't need to bother.

I don't use cable cutters on bike cables that often so I didn't want to spend much. I noticed a large pair of cutters for £5 from Tescos so i thought I'd give them a go. They have done the job great so far, used them to replace all 4 cables on 2 bikes.
