I had an older (30 y.o.) aluminium handlebar that got bent - will never know how. When I replaced it I tried to bend the old one back - couldn't do it, and I'm no weakling. Modern bars may be made of thinner wall tubing though.
That's what I was thinking. My mate said 'it must've been some crash if you bent the bars'. But it wasn't. The bike just basically fell on it's side from a standing position. I'm starting to think I just moved the brake hood and misdiagnosed it in my tired confusion (I'd done 50 miles and 4800ft of climbing at this point).
