Me too.
Someone once asked me for directions there. They're probably still circling around in Kent, utterly misinformed and befuddled.
Via Benenden?
Via Benenden?
No, I was replying to the post saying private was not as good docs as nhs
post i was responding too ...I assumed that comment was specific to Benenden Drs?
All of the private doctors I and my mum have seen over the last 15 years or so also work in the NHS so that makes no sense otherwise.
Orthopaedics, cardiology, dermatology, neurosurgery, urology
post i was responding too ...
From my experiences there, I believe it was set up for workers in the Post Office who'd opted in to a scheme where they funded their own private health care and they carried it on after the introduction of the NHS. I remember the surgeons weren't top notch, as they very rarely are in private practice.
although i might have misread it as i thought it meant the private ones were not much good as they didnt do private but it could mean the other way around![]()
I was linking it to the historical scheme set up by the PO that became Beneden maybe... but who knows!!
AI says...
Benenden Health, now a not-for-profit mutual friendly society, originated in 1905 as the National Association for the Establishment and Maintenance of Sanatoria for Workers Suffering from Tuberculosis, with the goal of providing affordable healthcare, particularly for postal workers and public sector employees.
And it was their 'private' doctors who weren't much good, rather than the doctors (also) working in the private sector today?
I jump in and out of NHS or private where necessary. I pay for scans and health checks privately and only NHS for refereed back to
I can't imagine they retain their own doctors, just negotiate a rate with many private medics to deliver service.
Just one nuance - my physio, who is very good, if a little zealous on occasion, won't deal with a lot of insurers because their rates aren't competitive for him, but that's the only angle I can see whereby one might not be seeing the very top drawer, as it were?
