Hi,

All I'm saying is the bike you train on doesn't have to be the bike you do
it on. I've no idea what the OP's ideal bike for the LEJOG would be.

I think its fair to say the older you are the more preparation you need,
for a beginner, and that a day to day bike can be very useful proposition,
as well as as a better longer distance bike if that is really needed.

Whatever, saying you wouldn't touch the Btwin with a bargepole
seems snobbish to me. Your obviously experienced and as
such IMO not looking at it from a beginners perspective.

FWIW I wouldn't touch your pedalless / seatless contraption
with a bargepole either, for very practical biking reasons.
(Not that I suspect the lack of either is price reflected.)

My post just implied get a practical day to day bike and just ride it,
using it as often as possible. Seems sensible for a beginner,
and is just an opinion as to how to approach it.

Worry about a good bike later, it you need to.
IMO you'll never regret having a basic decent bike.
Which IMO the Btwin is, much better that most at the price.

rgds, sreten.

That contraption is a scooter.

Of course it is a scooter and of course the brand is a Kickbike. But is it important?

I cant recall advising anyone to buy one, unless I was kidding. I think there is only one supplier in the UK. I always refer to it as a Kickbike but am not bothered what its called.

I have the big boys bike to go with it.

But its all irrelevant as I dont think the OP is coming back.

Hello I am new to all this and just wanted some advice I will be starting to train up end of January running to get my fitness up then buying a bike and shoes and cleats in February I was wondering the best bike to get to start with and the best training schedule to work around my work, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

HI there,

I'm also in St. Neots and whilst I haven't done LEJOG, a mate of mine who lives round the corner form me has. I'm sure he'd only be too happy to give you advice on what you'd need to do re: preperation, but in the meantime (if you don't already) try going for a club with St. Neots cycle club, they do three different length runs from the Market Square every Sunday morning starting at 8.30 in the Market Square. Or, just get out and ride, we live in a pretty flat part of the world so look at heading out towards Kimbolton then North & West from there to try and get some hills in, especially over the A14.

Tony.
