@biggs682 I must admit I find rides on the slow side a little tedious, but as @screenman says nothing wrong with it, and dont get me wrong I am not fast as such but it all depends what your doing, I just like to ride and not have to worry to much about hills ect... but as consequence it improves your over all speed just by being fitter.
Sorry Tuesday morning and I am rambling.
I usually do 10 miles in about the same time, i know Im slow but I just cant seem to go any faster, I did 30 miles on saturday and it took my 2 hours 15. I feel like a slowcoach when I see all the fellow cyclist wizz past me!
Doesn't sound slow to me. I did 30 yesterday and it took almost 3 hours. I like to look at stuff while I'm out. There are a few people who are slower than me and lots who are faster.
Concentrate on doing miles, not on speed. Speed comes with fitness, and you aren't even slightly fit if you have only been riding a few weeks. For an idea of the miles everyone else is doing each week, see this thread. When you are doing the average sort of mileage, then, and only then, start worrying about how fast you are.
I did 12 miles in 43 mins a couple of days ago, being the fastest I've gone by a good way. That was a shade over 17mph which I was very chuffed with, even though it is all flat and I didnt leave myself enough in reserve for the last couple of miles.
Your times alright
As a beginner I wouldnt recommend doing 10miler TTs too much. Get the body used to it, now you know your starting base time. Just ride for a month. Structured training or not, to get legs used to miles, then ride your 10m TT route again.
