Bees, beer and bother ?

Have you checked to see if they've buit a nest somewhere?

I've had a cursory look and couldn't see anything.

I've been tending to assume that, as there are never any more than 2-3 bees at most, often none, that there isn't a colony of them. Maybe that's not a valid assumption ?

Its possible that they've only just started to build the nest and its not much bigger than a small ball and doesn't contain many bee's yet

It wont be a proper ball if they have been supping your beer, look for an outlandish design, probably on the scunt somewhat

I had a wasp nest in my shed, its amazing how it grew just over a day before I could deal with it, as Dave said, started as a little ball, the next day it was more than twice the size

I don't have a shed, garage, or any other outdoor beer storage area but I think I might be tempted to leave a saucer of beer near the most likely entry point just to see whether the bees get diverted or whether they have a quick sup before going on to nest building.
