Well The Lord smiled on me because mt son's laptop is back together and seems non the worse for its bath.

Longers, I was talking to a friend tonight, the guy I buy a lot of my computer stuff off, and he was saying that it's very hard to kill a laptop with beer these days. Just about all of the parts, including the mother board, can be washed off in the bath then dried and they'll be fine. Even hard drives! I find it hard to believe but he's been building and fixing computers for decades so I guess he knows what he's talking about.

I got Stella all over my Nikon D200 last christmas. It was a bit sticky at first, but it's fine now.

Have got one screw left over but most things seem to work! I have to type 1+8 for that number which is one less than 10 though.

You should have some numbers on your letter keys in a different colour or in a box. Over the U,I,O,J,K,L,M. You can access then by holding down the function key.

The function key won't let me use the numbers
It will let me change the volume and brightness, use the *,+,- symbols but not the numbers.

I've since found that 4+1 and 6+1 don't work as well as 8+1 and the left hand bracket.

It could be a lot worse so I'm not too peed off.

Good job you're not an accountant then Longers. You can get keyboards on e-bay depending on the laptop. Used to buy spares off e-bay for Dells and replace the broken bits. Have a look.

Well, I can still spout drivel on here without needing numbers to do it .

Not being able to type any of my bank details, my address or my DOB should save me money too.

I think your next quick project, for when you have a spare five minutes longers, would be to carve a decent keyboard - elm with boxwood keys perhaps would be neat!
You know when you write rubbish something and then google because you need confirmation of stupidity etc - well I just did it.

I hope you have twigged that a wooden keyboard makes it much easier to log on.
