Hi everyone,

I have other commitments this year on a Sunday so unfortunately can not enter the majority of the BC races. However, there are two which are on a Friday that I could do. I want to know if I will have to get a full license for these two races or will I be able to just enter them?

Many thanks
Andrew

I think you can enter on the day and buy a day license. No idea how much it costs. I assume the race will not have to be fully booked aswell.

Check with the organiser, You might be able to get a day licence, but are not always available, I might be wrong, its been a while since I was last racing, but always check

What kind of races are they? I think for closed-circuit races a provisional license will do you (cheaper!). Check the BC website- there's details on there.

I think if it's a closed circuit race you can race on a provisional with a day licence (about £10) I think. If it's a road race you'll need a full licence - call the BC and they will email the necessary to you, print it out and show it on the line.

If you're doing more than a couple of races though it's better to get a full licence anyway - it'll work out cheaper than a string of day licences through the season (and it'll be easier to enter races too).

+1. There is also the added bonus of insurance/legal support in the event of a crash out on the road.

Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and bought a Silver race license. Came to £55.00 with my club discount. I've also entered my first race (criterium) which isn't until June but it's a 2,3,4! I'm also going to be doing TLI races before then and maybe a couple of other crits so hopefully I will manage the one in June. Some people have said I won't stand a chance with it being 2,3,4 but it's a few months yet so we'll see. The race i'm doing in June is the first ever one I watched which was last year and I said I want to be doing that next year so here I am all signed up! I can't wait!

Yeah it's the Leazes Sam. To be honest I don't think I have a hope in hell, some of the lads who go to training are cat 2's and are way way fitter than me. I'll still give it a go though!

Here is a link to the BC race calender. I've set it to show all North East 4th cat races as I assume that's what you will be doing. The only ones I know of on a Friday are the Leazes and Hartlepool Carnival. The others are all on Sundays.
