I personally would concentrate on the metal end, as that's the one that holds it all in. If the plastic one won't move easily, then I'd leave it. It's only a sleeve...

I've buggered it!

I used the bench technique and it wouldn't move, so I put more force in.....and more....... and then a bit more.......and kerching, pop, sudden lurch, I stripped all the splines off the bb, or enough to make no difference. There is now no way to grip it. So in a kind of, well it's knackered now kind of reasoning, I tried various bodgit attacks, got most of the bb out but am left with a mangled bit of metal on the end.

Short of taking it to an engineering workshop to get it removed and they'll have to reface it etc., it's goosed. So actually it's goosed because the cost would be more than the frame is worth.

I think this may be the first time I've actually written a frame off and I'm a bit cheesed off with myself, because, if truth be told, I lost a bit of patience with it.

Mrs Crackle will now claim my Marin as compensation and I'll have to buy a new one :whistle:
