I would appreciate advice re a battery charger to recharge my GPS and phone when touring. I don't need anything more powerful than what would be required for a simple overnight charge. The one I have used for a number of years has lost its ability to fully recharge.

Thanks

You mean such as the

INIU Power Bank, Portable Charger

Have a look on Amazon.

I would recommend the " Anker " brand. They are well made to a high standard. We've been using a 10,000mA version which is compact and versatile. Some of the alphabet spaghetti named brands on Amazon are of questionable provenance and I wouldn't be comfortable charging them.
There's an Amazon " Black Friday " event coming up in the next week or so, there may well be significant discounts

I agree re: Anker.
Best setup depends on your use eg cover a weekend staying in hotels or covering several months wild camping.

When I hea don tour I take 2 x the Anker 10,000 mA as well as a 25W solar panel. Reason for 2 batteries is to optimise use of the solar panel ie I can be charging a device using one battery and saving spare capacity from the solar panel into the other battery. 1st ever tour I took a 20,000 mA Anker pack but changed to 2 x 10,000 for flexibility.

Just a word on ampage.

I have two, one is 5000Ma and good for 2 or 2 full charges on a Motorola G32 phone, it's very small and light.

My other is a heavy duty 20000mA, I've charged the same device several times over and never drained the battery. It's a lot heavier though if weight is factor for touring.

Agree about Anker as I have one of their wireless chargers and it's performed well over the years I've had it. Phone support too.

If you can't get Anker, try the Juicy brand which sometimes does deals through Lidl/Aldi. This powerbank fell out of my pannier and was run over by a farmer's 4*4 a few years ago. Still works and use it as a spare.

I think that the wireless element makes a great deal of sense. A couple of years ago I was touring in France when my GPS ran out of juice and stopped. I was able to pop my power bank into the bar bag and run the cable directly from it to the GPS from my bar bag. It was so successful that not only did my GPS get up and running again, it was almost fully charged at the end of the day, I am hoping a wireless battery bank will mean I could do all of that again - in fact, even when raining and I am unable to keep the GPS connection dry. Does that make sense?

Meanwhile thanks to all who have provided info and comments. They have all been helpful.
