This is for sale out there on the web. The seller seems to me to be asking rather too much - he or she has offered it to me at £135. I think it's maybe a fifty quid bike at best, and even that's a gamble as it obviously needs a complete rebuild and a good bit spending on things like tyres and what not. On the other hand, it'd be a lot of fun to bring it back to life and I don't necessarily expect to gain financially from building bikes, but that's no reason to pay over the odds for a knackered old bike! What do you lot think?

It is a lot for an old scrapper, but if you could get it for £50 to £75 it could be worth it.

Could be 'Chopper era' - that would quadruple the value, and what if it's a 'barn find' - double the price again

Plus Eroica ready adds a few quid to the price.😂

The bike charity where I volunteer scraps bikes like that every week. Anything useful is stripped off but it's rare that anything actually gets used. We can't sell racers for love nor money. Hybrids, mountain bikes, pub bikes....not a problem. We've got two Trek Madones, one with Dura Ace and one with SRAM Red, 10 speed. Is anyone interested when they come in looking for a bike? No. Only me and I've got enough bikes as it is.

I genuinely don't think people understand this. Add that to the mindset which says anything old is worth a fortune, and the 'barn find' tax, and you have deluded souls like this bloke trying to fetch the thick end of £150 for a knackered mid-range bike. I mean, it'd struggle to fetch that after a full refurb, never mind as it is now.
