Invest in a reliable lock. Cheap locks from ebay most of the time are cheap copies - if your bike is worth anything then look elsewhere.

I surely would but am on an extremely constrained budget. I think I will 'invest' in one of these and report back to the forum on what it is actually like. If it is made of cheese, I will 'donate' it, or leave it at work or pub so I have it for emergency use if I forget (or CBA to carry) my decent one.....

Thing is, I have a decent D-Lock. I have recently cleared some fettling-shed space by rebuilding two of my other bikes, and given them on permanent loan to two of my friends... I know that they have next to no money to spare, so was looking for a lock for them. With one of the locks from Tredz, they could lock the two bikes together, which although not ideal, better than the £3.99 jobbie that my friend has bought.....

Don't strain your budget even more by buying shitty locks and expecting them to withstand reasonable attempt to remove it.

I'd rather buy a decent lock than a new bike.

Hi folks, I just spotted THIS: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-B...K_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item3a5814d881
Has anyone any experience with these. I know that it is unlikely to provide gold standard security, but it LOOKS fairly robust, which IMHO is half the battle, as your average tea-leafing scrote will just look and decide it is not worth the bother?

I actually found this lock while looking online about 10 minutes ago. I thought I would post the link, but you beat me to it.

Looks OK and quite cheap

I don't have an expensive bike to lock, but I wouldn't like to lose it. My daughter has stolen my D lock (well, it was probably hers before) so I need a new one. The Tredz lock looks good too.

I got a £20 voucher for Amazon, so will probably buy a lock there

Thanks !

I have actually already looked at this lock and was impressed, although quite a few folk mention that the holder is poor. i suppose its the lock that is important, not the holder.

I don't think I would ever use the lock and the cable, so as one of the reviewers has said, the cable would just sit in the garage. Although I suppose if I bought a decent padlock, that would be another lock, as a standby.
