Bar End Shifter confusion.

With bar ends on drop handle bars you move the lever the opposite way to a down tube shifter.

Well they work in exactly the same way, but the lever is is pointing in the opposite direction, so yes.

but you'll soon get used to them, I much prefer them to DT shifters having got one of each style on my two vintage bikes.

I've been out riding all day with the bar end shifters and I've got more acquainted with them. I still move them in the wrong direction occasionally when I'm not thinking. I've set the RHS to index and the accuracy is very good. Excellent 8 speed Shimano bar ends.

I could always install the bar end shifters upside down to resolve this issue, but then the cable would be ontop of the handle bars.

There are mechs that work the opposite way round

I didn't know that, I wonder why anyone thought to make them like that.
