The a ukulele banjo also known as the banjolele was made popular in the UK by George Formby.
A good example of banjo playing is Earl Scruggs & Lester Flatt with 'The Ballad of the Jed Clampett'.

There's also a very rare style of ukulele made out of the shell of an armadillo, but I forget what they're called!

A friend of mine in San Angelo, Tx has one and it produces a nice sound.
Slightly off topic the Lone Star brewery in San Antonio, Tx had an advertising campaign which featured armadillos; at the same time it was not unusual to see roadkill armadillos at the side of the road with an empty can of Lone Star beer between its paws.
