These are my favourite for cycling, as ridiculous as I know they sound...

Fig rolls are good, but porridge before you go, through the summer I have had weetabix, toast, peanut butter, loads of bread

I hate fig rolls lol....just back from Tesco and got porridge (have to have skimmed milk but thats ok), can't have peanut butter (I LOVE peanut butter!) and can have wholemeal bread, so that's ok.

I am not keen on them the amount i eat, but they work, if you can't eat them I understand that.

I just can't imagine life without bananas. My typical daily consumption is about 3.

There's a growing list of things I cant &/or shouldn't eat for medical reasons and I have great sympathy over the problem. I can't use energy drinks - they're in the banned category - so when riding I take water, or occasionally diet cola (sugary drinks are a problem). If I need an energy boost I eat Soreen, usually the original version, or flap-jack (which you said you can't use)

Sounds like a nasty situation.

Scotialass - I'm a regular Porridge eater in the mornings and find it very good for me. However I make it only with using water so if milk is a problem for you then don't use it at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did my first long (to me) ride this weekend. Diet was normal breakfast (poached eggs - from my own hens  - on wholemeal toast), porridge made with water & topped with milk about an hour before the off, then Haribos en-route. Mid ride I had a small Snicker bar.
For fluids I drank about a bottle of water during the 30mile ride.
The Haribos helped a lot for a quick energy fix.
