Balaclava report. I got the Gore and wore it yesterday for the first time. Going to work at temperatures of a sultry 0-1 it was cooler than the skull cap and buff, but as soon as I hit the strenuous part of my hill everything steamed up! It was a bit scary. I put the skull cap on underneath for the -3-4 trip home... much better.

I think I'd have been better off trying a polar buff. But as I live in mortal fear of my nose going purple like my dad's does in extreme temps, I'll stick with the balaclava for a while and see if we can work out a modus vivendi.

Motorbiking balaclava. It's made of stretchy breathable (literally, I can breathe through it up the steepest of hills) lycra and is thin enough to be worn under a helmet.

I also have a buff and as good as it is, it's overwhelmed when it gets to -2 and lower.
