Baked beans, how do you spice yours up?

Not another "which are the best baked beans".
They make an easy go to meal but can be 'same old, same old'.
Google has lots of suggestions, some weird and some that sound awful.
I want ideas that are simple.

Fry onions until golden, add curry powder (and chilli depending) then add beans. Heat for a while so it thickens. On toast. Yum

I've never spiced up baked beans. Their rugged simplicity is part of the appeal to me. I haven't had beans on toast for years but I do like them with chips and sausages/fish fingers. I've heard some people put butter in whilst heating them up but that's as far as I'd go
