was just taking off my rear wheel to clean this and that, put it back on and spun the back wheel quickly whilst it was off the ground and then the back wheel started shaking which made the whole frame 'sway' up and down, i know for a fact thaat my rear wheel hasnt buckled and i ahve only done 400 miles on my bike since i got it 6 weeks ago so its not wear an tear, does anybody know what the problem could be? i bought it from corridori about 6 weeks ago so i know about the free service but i live about 60 miles away from the shop and so getting my mum to drive me all that way it a bit of a hassle, but saying tht the gears do need adjusting. obviously this would be all free under the six week serivce but i was wondering if they would replay a cable that has slightly frayed for free as well??
thank you all very much

What do you mean swaying?

Is the rim moving from side to side? Is it jumping up and down when you spin the wheel as it will do with a heavy unbalanced tyre on (I suspect this is what it is)?

Does the whole wheel move from side to side at on the axle?

the rear wheel is moving up and down as if one section of the wheel was heavier than the rest which then causes the frame to move with the wheel if you see what i mean, as if a weight was strapped onto one section of the rim which then once spun causes movement, i have checked and there is nothing there.
and the wheel is very tight, i did take out the skewer but then replaced it once i had finished cleaning.

The wheel has probably gone out of shape - it should have been serviced after 100 miles as the spokes can work loose. Turn the bike upside down and tighten the brakes so that they are close but not touching the rim. Now with reference to the brake blocks slowly turn the wheel - you should see the braking surface of the rim rise and fall in relation to the static brake block. If this is the case it's a trip to to LBS.

Very common, esp with MTBsss with heavier rims, tubes and tyres.

Don't worry about it (check the tyre is seated properly though) it won't matter when you are riding it.

this is a road bike so 100 miles is nothing at all, i have done nothing at all to bend the wheel, no potholes or drops yet

You don't need to have done anything.

Bike wheels and tyres are not balanced, so this will happen. You have a valve spinning around at high speed, and probably not a very even tyre weight wise (more expensive the better here probably) so it will do this always to some degree.

Don't worry about it.

so i took the tire off and checked for anything then replaced it, turned bike upside down and tightened the brakes, when spinning the rear wheel i can see it moving ever so slightly side to side, im presuming that this is normal with my cheapish wheels, spesh allez standard. thank you all

As others have mentioned wheels are not normally balanced anyway, take out the front wheel, spin it holding the axle between your fingers and you will feel it "sway up and down", which is why things like computer magnets are often placed near the valve where the rim is normally lightest even with a tube fitted, as many rims are often much heavier at the join (opposite the valve),

We can naturally check to make sure all is well should you bring it in though

just the person!
thank you very much, i will bring it in on Monday for the six week service, i know for a fact that the rear mesh needs adjusting a tad, just to clarify it will be free for labour but what about parts, i dont think it will need anything at all but just checking.
thank you very much!!

Any faulty items would be made good, repaired/replaced as necessary.
