Plenty of ways to get fit without a bike or just bike off road, once youre fit then get on the road when you can keep up with the traffic.

For cyclists, left turning HGVs are the number one cause of death, "dooring" the number one cause of death and serious injury, if I recall correctly.

Nobody likes being held up. Whilst the highway code is correct in saying to sit there and wait by going slow in the middle of the lane you are inviting people to make a dangerous overtake, that isnt how it should be but its how it is. Not everything runs by the rules and if you know a certain situation is likely to provoke danger then simply dont it, or dont bitch about it at least. If you ride like a slug in the middle of the lane you may get squashed.

The TFL stats, 2007 put doorings (and swerving to avoid a door) in the top 5 conflicts where a cyclist is seriously injured.

He should be allowed to hold a driving licence either as he evidently can't drive safely either...

And remember folks you are perfectly at liberty to cycle at 15mph, out in the road enough to be clear of opening doors and to not let any driver, or other cyclist for that matter, compromise your safety.

Let us not forget the order of priority on the road, pedestrians, horses, cyclists and then, and only then, the motorised lot.

Those who boast of riding at 30mph in traffic would do well to remember cycling is not the sole bastion of the superfit and comments that say as such are really not helpful or constructive for beginners.
 
To be fair to blazed, I am sure he does cruise along at 30mph. Al he needs to do now is cruise at 30mph without stabalisers....

Kiddie bike, you think? If he has 20" wheels and hasn't changed the default wheel size setting on his cycle computer that'd explain why he thinks he's doing 30mph too

Dont forget the video is on yank roads which are massive (wide)! In UK our roads were build mainly before cars or monster 4x4/spacewagons, if you were to ride that far out you would be heading into oncoming traffic I think. :tongue:

Its a GPS and i tested it riding next to my friend i hit max 62 MPH and the reading was within 5% of the car. Obviously i could have just drove the car and held the GPS and compared myself but there is no fun in that.

Anyone who underestimates my speed for a bet i would be happy to race over any distance.
