Average speeds, and looking at them I have found to be incredibly depressing. When cycling home from work I have been hitting the dizzy heights to 15+mph on my trip(via cycle computer which doesn't count when stopped). However as soon as I go out on the weekend I am averaging ~12 which seems unfair, but I am doing more climbs.

Its right, dont worry about avg speeds I have them ranging from well 9.8 when I started, and even recently 10.8, but the avg grade was 1.3% when I did 16.15mph it was 0.48%, runs with less stopping leads to higher averages too. I work on a moving average speed, because this is the speed I travel at. I also tend to average it out over the wk or month, I also look at how difficulty the ride was, and the last two months has seen some great improvements, I hope to see another tomorrow with my tyres finally being at the correct pressure.

Pressures make a huge difference. I remember one day from the next, day 1 I was around 70psi and didn't realise it, day 2 at ~100 I flew home there was also no wind but lets forget that

When I checked earlier they were about 60psi, about as much as I can get in with the mini pump.

If you have been running 60 psi in 110 or 120 psi tires I think you are going to instantly get 2 mph more speed, maybe more. That is quite a difference in pressure. I think you are going to find that speed you have been wondering about.

I did get them up to pressure with the old track pump, but not sure how much the final pressures were, so I would say about 70-90psi, but it was a b****** to use.

I run 'my tracks' on my phone for when I am cycling and it gives me an average speed and a moving average speed. It also tells me my total trip time and my moving trip time. I don't know if that helps any but its a free app to go on your smart phone. I find it really helpful.

Most on line apps will have the same feature, some analysis data better than others, so long as you can export from the one you use in a tcx file, you can then upload it to strava or ridewithgps ect.

I didn't realize it was so late. I have been working on my bike longer than I though, just kicking back before I get to bed. I spent a lot of time cleaning my wheels and putting on a new cassette while watching TV. Time flies.

I am also putting on 25's instead of the 23's I have been running and going to lower my pressure some. I just put on training type tires also, more puncture resistant but little more work riding, which is ok with me for now.
