You could try using some grab adhesive and gluing a bit of wood to the post, you could then put a hook into that. If the wood is of a decent size (2"x4" for example) then it should easily hold the weight, just remember to be generous with the adhesive, and for the love of god don't get any on clothes.

Good to see that the 'correct / traditional' term hasn't completely died out. ^_^ They tend to be called hose clips now.
Rather like Terry clips tend to be called spring clips.

Jubilee is (or maybe was, I dunno these days) a brand. Inferior copies from other manufacturers are indeed hose clips, if only to avoid any kind of copyright infringement. Jubilee clip as a name has become like Hoover.

Edit - Jubilee are still going strong.

One hint for Jubilee clips is to buy a set of flexible shaft nut drivers (ie with a hex socket and a screwdriver type handle), as they make it a lot easier to tighten the clamp without sticking a screwdriver into your hand in the process. My set of three, I think from Sykes-P were maybe £20 and used twice a year since I've got them makes a worthwhile investment. Each time you avoid sticking a screwdriver in your hand has to be worth a fiver!
