Just feel the need to say...
I've noticed their prices going up again. I've shopped there for decades and generally buy the same stuff so you do get some muscle memory on prices. Seems every time I go in there stuff creeps up 10, 20, 30p
A lot of their own brand stuff has shot up, double sometimes triple the cost since this bout of inflation.
Apple sauce used to be around 38p..and quite acceptable it is. Now it's 98p
I could go on...we shop more and more at Aldi now, far more sensible prices.

Same everywhere.

Asda have always been expensive IMO, and not that great a supermarket for a long time. I'm an Aldi shopper now too, new store opened near me recently. I find going in later in day and I can normally get some bargains at 50/75% off and tailor my diet for the week around them. They also do bargain boxes on TooGoodTooGo but you have to be quick.

Lidl have done something cheeky recently, their discounts used to be 60% and 30%, but they've change to 50% and 20%. Luckily that Aldi opened about the same time lol.

Strange, I commented on that on Saturday whilst we were shopping in there.

They are all the same now; what they give (discounts) with one hand, they take with another. Apart from Aldi and Lidl but their meat, fruit and veg is either questionable quality or goes off very quickly

I asked AI to show the 'real' me.
Tesco is our usual for stuff we can't get at Lidl. Sainsbury's we find too expensive as you can check against others on your phone as you shop. Will only go there with a 15% off voucher.

We've just recently tried one of these internet food boxes with portion control / calorie controlled menus. Seems to be a roaring success with the OH as you not only get decent portions but a variety with little or no waste. We get 3 meals a week for about £5-£6 per head. The knock on effect is the cost of our regular shop has dropped as we are not overbuying (supermarket 'offers') ; buying things we don't need such as large packs of ingredients that last years; or waste (portion control).

Recipes are almost as good as one's you get from @Dave7

I find in Oban that Lidl fruit and veg is by far the best. Aldi stuff does not keep but I find the meat in Aldi quite ok.

I did start to shop around
Tried using Aldi for the main stuff but a lot of much lower quality than Tesco own brand (or we just didn't like it)
so I started using Aldi for some stuff, then ASDA for others
but still had to go back to Tesco for some things

ended up just far too much hassle - and saved so little that I was probably using more in petrol than I was saving

did try using Farm shops - but one has closed down and the only other that is local became "not worth the effort" because potatoes just were not as good as Tesco - kept having to chuck half of it out as it was black
and the fruit went off faster and everything was more expensive

SO at the moment I mostly go to Tesco - except for Green tea as ASDA is massively more expensive than Tesco - so I go there about once a fortnight

Yeah, partly why I posted it to see if it was widespread. I suspect it's supermarkets getting ready for the Christmas bonanza...and really cash in. Or am I being cynical.?

They are all creeping up. I've seen some goods remain stable, but others shoot up, unless on 'special'. e.g. special offer on soup - 4 for £5 or what ever. Individual prices are much higher. Only good thing I notice is there are more 'wonky' veg on sale - not much cheaper but at least it's veg not going to waste as much - nothing wrong with that.

We changed our fridge freezer a couple of years ago, and it keeps fruit and veg much better than the previous one, hence lots less waste.

Yes this is what we find too. We nearly pass a Lidl on the way to Morrisons so sometimes it's not too bad. The Tesco is 10 miles away so we try and get a big shop there only if we are out that way anyway. Also Lidl do rubbish crisps! False economy if you buy cheap crisps and the no-one eats them. We do have 2 Aldi shops but they are either in town or in a very busy subburb, so the time spent idling in traffic would probably burn away any substantial saving.

And they're not automatically applied when you scan the reduced sticker at the till. You have to ask a store assistant to apply the discount otherwise you still pay the full price.

My Lidl's are, they have a barcode on them. The ones at Aldi though are not and I do need to ask.

Its annoying about Lidl for me as their app has been quite good over the last 12 months, with some good coupon rewards, but its not worth it now.
