Sorry you've got all this extra frustration to deal with. Do let the local store deal with it under warranty though. Decathlon have a reputation for being really good at sorting things out.

Can I ask why you ordered it online instead of from the store? surely the store would of set it up ready to ride.

Sorry you're having such a hassle with the bike, but as Rocky says, best just to put everything back the way it came and get it back to a store somehow. You have paid for a new bike so if it has anything wrong with it you really have to either get them to fix it properly or replace it.

You really shouldn't need to buy a new wheel. If the bike arrived damaged Decathlon should be dealing with this under the warranty.

I understand that transport is an issue. Can anyone give you and the bike a lift to the nearest store?

I have been to the online site and i am sending it back for a replacement, although on second thoughts i should have asked for a refund and got a lift to the shop !!

My sympathy. While I'm fluent in French I don't know bike vocabulary beyond the basics like guidon, roue, pneu, crevaison, and I'd also have difficulty explaining that the wheel was buckled over the phone.

Just a thought, because it seems pretty unusual to get a buckled wheel fresh from the start: are you sure that it's buckled and not just fouling the stays because it's not sitting properly in place? Taking it out and putting it back in might help get it to sit correctly.
(Putting in an old wheel with fewer gears on the cassette is not going to be a good fix either - the bike's gears will be indexed so that they are aligned with the new wheel's cassette.)
