How far is that? It looks a fair old distance. Certainly get the feeling of speed from the video. I topped 50mph once only - on the hills above Balmoral Castle in Deeside heading down to Gairnsheil Lodge and must admit, didn't like it much. Tyres felt they were skittering on the road, barely hanging on.

Unfortunately I cannot view the video because my Youtube and Google has disappeared. (404 page not found)

I cannot understand what has gone on because I am able to access everything but those two sites.

It think it is about 2 miles or so going down this way (about 770 feet elevation). The good thing about the road is that the really fast section is followed by a slight uphill so you can lose a bit of speed without slamming the brakes on before it starts to get twisty and technical

The Ross on Arran is a bit higher (960 feet) but not so fast - one side is steep but it is narrower and a bit twisty in places and he other side the gradiant is more gradual and the descent of that takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get down so you can really enjoy the scenery.

Good run. Need to work on your lines though. Couple of left hand bends where you're in the gutter, or pretty close. Get out to the white line before a left and into the gutter for the rights. Gives you a wider curve and improves your view ahead. Need to be sure what's behind but at that speed nobody's going to pass!

53mph, think I could do that on a hybrid with 28mm tyres? Think I got 38mph behind Dunoon on the B836 going down to Loch Striven and that felt quick.

That looked fun. I managed 52mph on my Trek 2200 in 2007.

I wonder what you have to search for to get banned from Google? ;)

Yeah always improvements to be made although the road surface chooses some of the lines (on two of the corners there are manhole covers - if you avoid them on the right side of then you have to be really careful not to go to wide on the exit). The surface is not great but its not awful either - On the other hand the road from Lochranza to Sannox the surface is awful and frankly in a dangerous state of disrepair

You might be able to break 50 going down it on a hybrid if you can tuck down low enough but i think it will be a bit more difficult.

The road down to Loch Striven is part of one of my favourite routes. Dont know if you've continued on from there but the climb after Loch Striven is a tough one. Good wee warm up for the C11 road over to Otter Ferry - one of the toughest hills in Scotland IMO And worth every bit of effort for the view you get at the top as you descend through the trees down to Loch Fyne

Is it the Bealoch that your talking about? - coming down onto Striven from the west and heading east towards Tarsan damn? If so that is a properly steep road!

I was brought up in Dunoon so know (and love) the roads you are talking about. Just love getting back up there and getting a pedal in every so often!
