hello,

I was wondering if someone could recommend me some arm warmers that will keep me warm through the winter months preferbly ones that stay up, I only have these think whote ones that came with a scott top that I bought and they dont tend to stay up well or keep me warm. I have some gore leg warmers which are really good so thinking they may be one to go with?

also need some full finger gloves, any suggestions would be much appreciated

They don't do anything!!! Keep your fingers, feet and core body warm and you'll be fine. Wear a long sleeve top or a windproof if it gets really cold..

...... and you say they don't do anything

I use Gore Ozon arm warmers same as my Ozon leg warmers and they stay up fine.

I've got some CC ones, and they're pretty good, but there's no way round the fact that they have orange and white on them - I put them on in the dark on the last FNRttC and forgot about it until the halfway stop lights revealed a colour-clash fashion crime of the utmost gravity. Dellzeqq was delayed looking after a fallen rider - if he'd seen it I might well have been looking at a life ban, and probably deserved it. Get some black ones. Shutt VR ones are reduced at the moment - all black or black with red or blue stitching. Their sizing is on the generous side, so go smaller if in doubt - if yours have been falling off, it's probably because they are too big.

Arm warmers are an excellent piece of clothing. You can leave the house in early morning needing a little bit extra to keep you warm and by mid morning roll them down or put them into a pocket. IMO, an essentail bit of kit.

However, I was amused on holiday in eastern Italy to come across a club ride; all wearing arm warmers. It was showing 27C on the street thermometers.

It obviously seems to be just me that has fingerless gloves, shorts and short sleeve top for all temperatures above 10C and then shorts, long fingered gloves and a waterproof/windproof jacket for when it's a bit cooler.....

Arm warmers are great but I suffer from having skinny biceps and they fall down a fair bit  I found Defeet Armskins a few years ago and they solved the problem; I tend to wear them often and just roll them up or down as needed. I have no problem with leg warmers, they always stay up at the moment I've got a pair of Altura as I liked the reflective patches on them and that is all the shop had

With full finger gloves it depends whether I'm wanting to go for dexterity or warmth. On the slower hybrid I'm wanting to go for warmth and I managed to pick up a pair of Spesh Radiants for £15 from the Ed Co Op a few years back. On the Road bike warmth isn't a problem and I went for a pair of Endura Strike gloves.

Gore gloves are really good, I've used Alp X Lady for the past three winters - they aren't waterproof, but the windstopper means they are warm even if you get wet. If it's really cold I wear glove liners too.

Only available in black though

- any chance of a picture? - and price?

I too find arm warmers invaluable in the sort of weather we're getting this end of the 'summer' - yesterday was really cold and grey at 9am, N wind too - arm warmers, short sleeve shirt + gilet - fine, toasty. When the sun emerged things heated up rapidly, and so easy to roll the warmers down to bracelet size, and stay cool and comfortable. Using Prendas ones at the moment - £7.50 inc. - recommended, you would prob. need 'small'.

I use a pair of Lidl all-purpose gloves, very tough and cost about a fiver. Red and black with a strong velcro cuff which comes well down over the wrist. Inside them I wear a pair of those bright yellow meraklon running gloves that you can get all over the place for a few pence less. Both are machine washable and the two-glove solution is more flexible.

If I was commuting I might get something a tad fancier or more stylish, but these keep me plenty warm enough. My bike is set up very precisely, so I don't need much padding in my gloves and the inner glove gives me enough.

A pair of ladies thick tights cut & trimmed make a great free recycled alternative. Pack to almost nothing and cross-dressing adds a little frisson to the normal club ride ...
