I disagree. He loves this country so much that he lives in Monaco as a tax exile. That's fair enough - I might even do the same in his shoes - but to then accept an honour from the very country he has turned his back on, the very crown to which he has chosen to avoid paying tax, smacks of hypocricy so breathtaking that it amazes even me.

If we have to have an honours system then I'd reserve knighthoods for people who make a massive positive influence on society.

As has already been said upthread, will the covid vaccine creators get one, take away their contributions to society and where would we be, then take away a sportsman's contribution and what would the difference be?

Or alternatively, just do away with the whole nonsense.

Never watched it as every road cycling I have is as dull as dishwater. What makes that one exciting? A few cobbles?
