Are my shorts too tight?

Not I question I ask often, but since buying my DHB aeron race shorts I've found myself after a few miles with what can only be described as "numb plumb" syndrome.

In fact not just the plumbs, but the entire nether region.

The rest of the shorts seem to fit ok, although not knowing exactly where the padding should be I'm not 100% sure. I bought size medium, as I wear size 32-34 trousers, although a measure of my waist suprised me at 36, my trousers aren't tight though.

The trouble is, I don't have another £50 to spend on a size large of the DHB to try.

Are there any similar quality shorts that I could try, but not break the bank. I see halfords have some Azore 8 panel shorts for £15.99 which get reasonable reviews.

Im well aware of the phrase and its meaning, not just here, its used a lot suprisingly on a photograohy forum Ive been on for many years too!

Some people like that sort of thing though, hence why I asked.. My quick forray onto Flickr to find a suitable "large package in cycle shorts photo" soon affirmed that there are some damn weird people on the internet! xx(

Try local lidl see if they have any large left?

Could do, but their sizing seems off.
I bought medium tights and tops from there last week and they are a touch too big. Haven't ridden with the tights yet, but might try tomorrow to see what happens.

Generally the advice is to buy bib shorts based on height rather than waist size.

As for the dhb aeron pro - so many people recommend them as a good value option but in my experience they are not particularly good. The pad doesn't have much front coverage and what is there is very thin compared to other brands - If you ride with even a moderately aggressive position on the bike then the padding is pretty useless IMO.

Are they too tight round the crotch when on.

The other issue is you may not have positioned things right with new shorts ?

I assume you've not suddenly increased mileage ?

Just about to try the decathlon 5 pads in my new bibs. They look the business. Decathlon had an issue a few years back when there higher end shorts pads fell to bits, so I've not used them for a while as i had two pairs fail within a month. They had a big recall.
