Are disc brakes and rotors standard ?

the brake levers are linear brake levers with mtb cable pull.

Black Avid BBn mtb calipers it is then.

Had another play , the rear pad was sticking to the disc when you braked and you push it back in but it wasnt cable related .I gave a good squirt of disc brake cleaner and reseated the caliper and seems ok now .
All set for the commute as i prefer to use something with wider tyres when its a chance of frost .

You can only adjust one pad, the outer one, and they are, frankly, a pita to fettle, whereas BB7's once set up properly are easy to maintain on tour as it were.

Avid BB7's are old, tried and tested cable disc technology and are very good brakes.

If you look on ebay you can buy a front and rear set with rotors for about £50-£60
