Shaun,
The reason I wanted to clip in whilst spinning is so that I can get the most out of the session as I can't use the full pedal stroke when in trainers and toe clips as they keep slackening off under heavy loads.
Can you not ride outside instead? Or on a turbo?

I started having problems with my knees and went back to flats and the knee problem sorted itself out quickly.

I would look for a better pair of trainers or insoles and get rid of the cleats.

Most of the year that's exactly what i do Vickster, but as i am in the Armed Forces i have access to a gym at lunchtimes that provide free spinning sessions 3 times a week so i use those to keep on top of my fitness. Just wanted to get the most out of my spinning sessions, but as "Steveindenmark" has said, i might just need to get a better pair of trainers for spinning and take the slight loss of power in the upward pedal strokes on the chin :-)
