First two weeks in September, planning to start near Lyon, then cross the Parc Naturel du Pilat, Monts D'Ardèche and maybe the Vercors before returning up the Rhône to Lyon.

Found it surprisingly difficult to find a chambres d'hote for start and finish, most were booked. Now wondering whether taking an emergency tent might be a good idea...

Ideas include to climb the Gerbier de Jonc (volcano), swim under the Pont d'Arc and generally eat and drink too much. Any top tips?

La France Profonde here we come!

I took an emergency solo tent to N Spain and ended up using it most nights.
Vecors has some fab twisty mountain roads. See Combe Laval.

Park up in Lyon and eat yourself to a standstill. All the "Bouchons"
Might damage the budget.
Fond memories.
Do enjoy it!

We took one to new Zealand. Used it once, and only then because we couldn't face taking it home unused! Would rather avoid the weight too.

[Combe Laval looks awesome, thank you!]
