evans have a jacket i want at a price i don't want. i've decided to be cheeky and go in and make an offer at the price i like.

i reckon there is no harm in trying. anyone already done this with success?

Do they do price promise............ doubt it.........

Buy on-line..................... I'd pay over the odds at an LBS for 'something I needed' but not at the 'big chains'.........

No harm in trying I guess!

I did ask them once to do a 'price match' on an item, a service they advertise. They said 'no' because the price at the other shop was for an item that the shop didn't actually have in stock... but then neither did Evans! But they did offer to order it for me... at the higher price! I unsurprisingly declined.

it's always worth trying, I often do and and regularly surprised at how much you get knocked off sometime just for asking

I got a price match last week for a Garmin Edge 500 (full cadence/HR bundle) - £179. They checked the website I quoted and then gave it to me then and there (by phone).

I believe if you mail them the website they will mail you back a code to use at the checkout.

Great service........however..... I took some shorts in last week that had worn out on the seam (exactly 1 year old), but got the news today they werent going to replace them. Not sure if this is worth fighting......

You can get 15% Evans discount voucher if you sign up for a skyride

Hth

15% off Evans prices makes the prices more like they should be.

No harm in trying. The worst thing that could happen is they politely say no. They are hardly going to be all "whaaat?!? Right for that indescretion we're putting the price UP!"

Evans is a chain store so I doubt it. Worth a try in any independently run shop though, or when your buying in bulk (and actually deserve a discount).

Managed to get a massive saving at Dominos pizza when I had a £100 budget (not all for myself )

I got a £599 bike for £340.

OK, so it was already discounted to £399. But I got 10% off all the upgrades I wanted (and got to keep the replaced parts, which I hadn't wanted, so hadn't factored in). I got the bike price down when I went to collect the bike as agreed and it hadn't been assembled.

So yes, you can haggle, but you might have to put up with, or depend upon, Evans' inherent crapness in order to manage it. 60psi is not enough air in a 120psi tyre, for reference, if there are any Evans 'mechanics' reading.

Nice bike now, though. I've made a few changes to it. And their inept bartaping has left something pleasingly shabby within a month, reducing its attractiveness to lightfingers.

I got an online price match on tyres too. Didn't realise you couldn't use their vouchers online, but the local shop ordered them in for me at the same price.

Back to the OP, so they wouldn't sell you the jacket a price you couldn't buy it at? Shocking

Oops :blush:sorry OP, that was yello's comment I was referring to.
