so an alloy defy 0 is lighter than a composite 3

bugger....

Are you super duper athlete?

If yes - well done and carry on fretting but if not why not just crack on and ride the bike that most takes your fancy.

In truth I think some of this weight obsessiveness is stark raving mad. Last year as a Newbie I did just over 2000 miles at av' speed of just under 15mph (not far and not fast I know) but I'd ask myself that, apart from burning off a few less calories, what difference would a few grams off a wheelset have made to my life? Pretty much none & def' not in the grand scheme of things.

Way back people were just glad to have a nice bike to ride on. And many were happy with just having a bike full stop. But now it seems that people have nice bikes that they are unhappy with because it weighs a slice of toast too much!

Just try it. Go for a ride. Come home. Rest. Stick a slice of toast in your pocket and go do the same ride again. What's the difference? Did the 4 Horseman pass you by?

I'd bet on "None" and "No".

I do realise that someone will now say that if the slice of toast was taped to the wheel rim that the bike would have rode as though the tyres were made of fuzzy loops and the road of fuzzy strands.
