I don't think I'd want to share a pint with Nasser though, even though he dragged England into the modern age. How about Ray East? I think he had a pub in East Bergholt IIRC

Decisions, decisions, England dominating SA or the Tour and I really should do that supermarket thing. The bike could do with a clean after yesterdays murky weather and that beer (London Pride) won't drink it's self. What to do? So little time so much to do.

The boy stood on the burning deck
Playing a game of cricket
The ball rolled up his trouser leg
And stumped his middle wicket.

In KP we can't expect miracles - things may get worse before getting better. ;) The captaincy may temper his tendency to play inappropriate shots when the big picture looms in front of him... but he is exciting to watch - consecutive reverse sweeps etc etc, and hopefully he'll 'settle down' before the next ashes.

Where's Siamon Jones - at least his reverse swing, gave our bowling attack a bit more teeth?

It still grates with me that we have a South African captaining us against SA. County cricket is full of S africans too.

I find cricket extremely boring to watch. Having said that I am in the cricket team at work (20/20) as one of the token females. Much more fun to play I think, especially when it is sunny, just an excuse for lounging in the sun then .

Thank God the selectors have finally taken their collective carrot out of their arses and made KP the captain. We've suffered from weeping, lame-duck captains for years now, the Aussies laugh at us, especially Nasser Hussein, they thought he was a joke.

Finally we have someone with a bit of spirit who might help us be aggressive and actually start winning consistently

Why he isn't the one day captain too I have no idea.....

Actually, I thought Nasser was the right captain for his time. He made England a much tougher unit than they had been, which then flourished under Vaughan once a decent bowling attack came together.

Kind of the best out of a pretty useless bunch. Stewart was the only bloke with balls in that era, the rest crumbled with regularity.

England finally grew some balls off the back of Flintoff et al, just in time for the 05 ashes, but they've reverted to type since then

hopefully KP will inject some fire into the side, but the unfortunate likelihood is that he will become burdened with all the extraneous shoot that the ECB will pile on him and he'll lose his edge......
