In my youth I could ride hands of the bars rolling a cigy .Mates called me the cow boy.

Never did solve the problem of lightning the dam things while still riding.

Those bamboo bicycles do look intriguing though, how long has the oldest one in service been going, does anyone know??

The Bamboo Cycle Co was the first company to commercially make a Bamboo bike in 1894. There are a few surviving examples from this company, of which at least one is still being ridden. This website has some good information, as well as photos of the catalogues and a surviving bike in daily use.
