I have nothing above 4khz, which I expected. Most likely the result of working and playing in noisy environments in my 20s without protection.

What I didn't expect were the occasional gaps on the way up to 4khz.

This test did make me question whether part of my dislike of pubs, group activities and noisy social environments is because I can't understand what's happening.

I find loud environments really hard to pick out conversation. I can hear people making a noise but not much else. I've inadvertently learnt lip reading and hear one word at times then apply context to keep up. I'd rather avoid the environment all together though. One of the pure joys in life is on the bike in the countryside for this very reason.

My cousin spent too many nights as a promoter for club DJ nights, so suffers.
He wears a tiny device in his ear which plays a constant low level buzz which works to exactly counter the tinnitus in the same way that noise cancelling headphones work.

No tinnitus but listening to the clip through earpods I couldn't hear anything over 8kHz. Suspecting that there might be some noise cancelling going on I tried the test on my Sony headphones but found the same.

Mine is left ear dominant and seems to be around 8Khz. Think I've had it since a child, apparently when I was about 6 years old I was hit around the head with a heavy book by a teacher for talking in class and suffered badly with it afterwards, but I guess my brain managed to filter it out as I got older as I don't remember having a problem with it growing up. Then about 25 years ago we were having problems with a 'neighbour from hell' who liked to start playing loud music at random times during the night so I think my mind was listening out even when I was asleep, woke up one night with a loud whistling noise and had it ever since 😒. I get short bouts of silence every now and then, it actually happened a couple of weeks ago about 2am in the morning, woke up suddenly and felt a bit strange then realised the tinnitus had gone, so nice to be normal again if only for a very short time (ie 20 or 30 seconds)! Sadly it's always back by the next morning though.

How is it pronounced, is it tinny-tus or tin-eye-tus?

either I think.

Turns out the dip I experienced at around the 3500hz mark is only there on my bluetooth headphones. It wasn't there when listening through my speakers or a pair of cable headphones. I'll charge up a different pair of BT headphone and see if it's still there on those.

There was another video about things that can make tinnitus louder; nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, too much salt, not enough sleep

I’ve had tinnitus since my early teens. Sometimes it’s a right pain but most of the time my brain seems to tune it out. There was a short period, about a year ago, when I suddenly got a clicking sound in just one ear. It was like one of those old metal clicker toys (see pic), or someone repeatedly clicking a biro in a random pattern.

On the test it went quiet for me between 3-4kHz but not silent, as I’d imagined, although I only realised that by pausing the video and restarting it and noting that I could actually hear it faintly. Between 7.5-8kHz is where I lost all sound. This was with wired in-ear buds connected to my iPad.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I have tinnitus in my left ear. Started at the same time Covid did. Its a high pitched continously sound. Most of the time it doesn't bother me at all, I'm able to ignore it. A couple of times it stopped for 20 minutes or so. It wa total bliss, then it started again.

I just live with it.
