I suppose it's an unscientific version of warming down. By the time I go for my stroll I've long since got off the bike, maybe had a train journey home, had coffee and cake, had a shower and so on. It's sort of a delayed warm down.

Being too late to call a "warm down", that probably counts as "Active recovery". Definitely A Thing 👍

(vaguely related is that I tell myself the geriatric crawl home from races will help recovery. Again, I usually lie around crying for way too long after the race to call these "warm down". I have no date to report on wrt cramps.)

Well I had a banana, pre ride and upped the dose of electrolytes in my bottle. I warmed up for 12 minutes before taking on my favourite mtb hill climbing of 748 meters (smart trainer). After one hour 23 minutes ( spot on usual timing) I preformed a 15 minute cool down with a big fan in front.
Even with the fan the T-shirt was soaked through.
Let’s see what happens late tonight 😂

For the last ten years I suffer muscle cramp. Never on a steady ride but when I really go for it, even just for a 60 minute flat out ride I get post ride cramp.usually around three to four hours after the ride. Last night around 12pm my left leg muscle simply froze solid for around five minutes.
I drink Electrolyte and eat well, before and during the ride. Any idea guys on how to prevent the cramp, other than taking it easy please.

Do you take satins?

They are well known to cause cramps, especially the legs

Get your bloods checked, you maybe deficient in a particular nutrient. As we age sometimes we need extra, certain vitamins/amino acids

I have had my blood checked and it seems I’m a little low in Iron. They told me to eat plenty of foods like Broccoli.

So I went to bed last night with very tired legs, great nights sleep with no cramps. So for me it seems I need to warm up and cool down when riding hard, alongside making sure I drink plenty of fluids packed with electrolytes.
Such a great relief not to get the cramps. Thanks guys for all the input ❤️

If it's homeopathic as it says it is, those ingredients would be diluted to the point of being inactive - by definition.

Note there's no quantities shown for any of those ingredients as you would get on normal/actual medicine

I don't know what else I can tell you.

My wife introduced me to them about 25 years ago and they work really, really well.

I don't drive over here, I use a bike and trailer for work, I sometimes carry huge loads many, many miles in a day and as a result wake in the middle of the night with excruciating cramps. I pop a couple of pills under my tongue and 5 minutes later I am fast asleep for the rest of the night.

You don't think homeopathy has any credibility so you dismiss my experience. Maybe a lot of homeopathy is without merit but why on earth would I make this shoot up? Why is it so hard to believe a staple on drug store shelves ( just like normal/actual medicines ) for many decades actually works?

If it is not FDA regulated then there is no reason to state the dosage, I would think.

When I used to race I'd always, without fail, cramp up towards the end of the last lap, whatever the race distance. Sometimes it waited until the sprint. I tried most things that others recommended to take....bananas, quinine tablets and various concoctions. Nothing seemed to work. I don't get it so much these days since I packed in racing but get it after a long ride, usually when I'm relaxing watching the Tele or reading a book. There's nothing quite like the pain of a good attack of cramp 😂

I haven't said anything about your experience or dismissed it at all!

All I've done is make a comment about the ingredients of that product and that it's labelled homeopathic - you and anyone else is obviously free to make your own minds up what you buy/take.
