No, but I have failed to break even last year as an actor too, and still claimed for travel expenses.

I just get confused when it comes to when you can/can't claim back travel.

For instance, I stayed away from home last christmas, but because I was rehearing at the same place every day, I couldn't claim travel.

Did you find out about the free breakfasts too?

I'm not really able to cycle to clients' offices - they being for the most part in other countries - but my accountant did mention one year that companies are allowed to provide a limited number of breakfasts each year to people who cycled to work as a sort of compensation for not needing to provide a car parking space or some such logic. The main point being that the company could claim this as a legitimate expense. So then of course I had to provide myself with some company funded breakfasts - at Betty's in Harrogate which is a nice 60 mile cycle away (sadly no clients in the vicinity but no one asked about that :biggrin:)
