Each to their own.
For years I was a bird and butterfly watcher/spotter.
I have seen train spotters
On one ride I came across 2 pleasant guys on a motorway bridge..... they had table, chairs, flask of coffee and were taking notes on wagons they hadn't seen before.
Beyond me but my bird watching must be beyond other people.
So....what are you in to ?

I went to watch The Love Bug with a pal in the late 1960s. For some reason, that inspired us to spend one Saturday as VW Beetle spotters! Every time one went by we shouted out HERBIE!! I can't remember how many we spotted but we were surprised at how common they were. (We wrote down the numbers from the regs plates to make sure we only counted each one once.)

It was quite a fun day but we didn't feel the need to do it again!

Yes.... so long as it gave you pleasure then it's got to be good.

Ever played the Punch Bug game? Every time you see an (old) Beetle you punch whoever is besides you.😁

I've recently started to become interested in bird spotting. Most recently in Barbados and St Lucia. Next year Costa Rica esp for the Resplendent Quetzals. Off birding on Wimbledon Common on Sunday if the Wombles haven't scared them off

A wonderful, interesting hobby. OK foreign birds can be so beautiful but you have so much to learn about UK birds. Its fascinating and amazing.
Right now I am watching blue tits, great tits an long tail tits... beautiful

WHen I was at school there were a large group that went train spotting
They would arrange to meet up and go to "the sheds" at the weekend - I think it was somewhere around Bidston

My friend and I started collecting bus numbers - I got fed up ratehr quickly but he carried on and went all over the Wirral looking for ones he didn;t have

Another friend - who I am still in contact with - was far more serious about it and went out specifically looking for older models and designs all over Merseyside
He ended up doing Engineering at University and got a job as an Engineer in a bus garage - I wasn;t surprised
He ended up as a Senior Lecturer at John Moores University - lecturing in Integrated Transport!!

I think he owns a part share ina few old busses
Looking at his Facebook page he has just come back from Eastern Europe - looking at old busses mostly!!

He has never got married for some reason!!!!!

Someone bought me an I-Spy book of trains when I was a kid. Being as I live at the end of a single track branch line, I was able to tick off the single track line token, which was worth 90 points, the highest in the book.

Being as I live at the end of a single track branch line, it was also just about the only thing in the whole book I could tick off.
