The Aggi pub in Braunton.
Used to be good.
New owners have turned it into a creche. Most locals are now giving it a wide berth.
I'll give 'em 6 months and they'll go down the pan.
Serves them right.

What I don't (didn't?) like was their quiz night is (was?) on a Monday and every taxi driver in north Devon has Monday night off!

I'd hold the door open for him. Or her.
Three foot of snow on the ground and a knackered boiler, good luck with that

Why Aldi?

Because it's a painful experience and a gamble as to the quality of items. I've been in a few times for one off items as one is very near me.

Fresh orange juice that tasted like soap.
Parmesan cheese. Truly awful. Nothing like it.
Charcuterie selection, not bad to be honest.
The fact that any till open will have a good 10 people in it when you get there and they don't give a toss about that.

I don't think either of those things interferes with a doors operation unless it opens outwards and then you'd never be able to let them in to evaluate their views.
Besides, three feet of snow on the ground simply doesn't happen in London's suburbs.

More like an inch of slush.

I had to jump through hoops with their "customer service" a few weeks ago trying to get a refund on some grapes which had gone mouldy within two days of my buying them. I gave up in the end.

I much prefer Lidl.

Have to say.......that is the complete opposite to our experience with the two in our town.
We have found certain products that (IMO) are below par....but I can say that about any chain store.
We buy the fresh orange from concentrate and enjoy it (especially diluted with Vodka  ).
Queues are always quickly controlled by opening others........and unlike other stores they always announce eg "we are about to open till number3/4/5 etc).
Cant comment on the charcuterie but the meat section is ok:smile: (that was my joke btw) we enjoy the Tourchon ham but find the fresh meat way too fatty.

Doesn't adding vodka make all orange juice taste off?
