Life is too short for puncture repairs. Use Specialized All Condition Armadillos or Bontrager Race lite Hard Case tyres and carry a spare new tube. Ebay if your friend.

The tyres on my bike are the Specialized All Condition Armadillos, I read the reviews on Evans site and they are well recommended. Looks like I was just unlucky to ride over a piece of glass where I did. I put 100 psi into the mended tube and did 25 miles today, including a bit of a gravel path without any problem so hopefully it is okay. The hole from where the glass was removed is quite big though, so will probably replace the tyre quite soon.

I always replace the tube at the side of the road as its quicker. I then fix the puncture when I get home and swap over so my spare tubes don't have patches.

I used to use the stick on patches but I have found that they do slip from time to time so am not a big fan.

If you buy tubes in bulk you can get them quite cheap and I would rather have reliability so throw a tube when it has 2 punctures.
