Yeah i know you're all sick of this question  and its all subjective and based on personal preference but i am after a new set of tyres for my road bike. The most important consideration has to be puncture protection ability as i'm using it for commuting to work so im happy to sacrifice speed etc for durability. I've currently got luganos on it (they were cheap when i needed them!) but 2 punctures in 8 trips doesnt seem great.

So, Gatorskins? Bontrager all weathers? Durano Plus? Any thoughts? ATM i'm leaning towards Duranos (i have marathon+ on my hybrid and they seem bulletproof........)

Durano Plus get a big thumbs up from me. 5600 miles and only just starting to look like they will need replaced before too much longer. Maybe not the lightest but certainly seem tough.

Thanks for the pointers.

I have 700x23c tyres on there at the moment, but would there be any benefit in moving to a wider tyre - maybe a 25 for winter?

Hi,

I like wider tyres on my road bike, I've got a 30mm rear and 32mm front.
Why anyone would commute on 23mm's on typical British roads is
beyond me. You can do it but why ? On anything but nice smooth
tarmac your losing out to the practicalities of using wider tyres.

You have to try fatter tyres to judge the the fact that they are heavier,
they roll not quite as well on good tarmac, but better on anything worse
and are miles more comfortable when used at the right tyre pressures.

A pair of these (if they fit) would be a great winter / general / training tyre :

Kevlar puncture protection and mine (on my rear) has the reflective sidewalls.
Very nice budget tyre for £11 delivered. No punctures in 7 months.

rgds, sreten.
