Ah, had a quick look at the back of my shed and found a little Noddy bike that was one of the kids first bikes with stabalizers. It only has a front brake but it is calipers albeit made out of pressed steel and it will fit my frame. At least I can try it out in principle over the weekend and get a decent set of it works.
