Another Carlton Mystery

Picked this old girl via "freecycle "on Sunday. Sorry about the quality of the pics and all the other old stuff on my Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/dawes531/10476665164/

At first glance I thought run of the mill 60's Clubman, But the frame number on the rear dropout caused much scratching of head?? According to the Carlton "frame dating" website A = 1939 !! but I can only presume that it was built using a 30 year old dropout......cos all the rest of it is pretty ordinary. BTW All components are rubbish as far as cursory glance can tell.
Any enlightenment greatly appreciated

Yeah , I'm a big fan of orange, my first good bike was an orange Rory o Brien my dad bought me for £25 in 1964... loads of money then!!
Stripped the Carlton down tonight and there's no way it's earlier than the late 50's / early 60'sI think. Very odd

Its got Crespera lugs so that narrow it down to c1967-75.

Thanks Spokesmann, that's disappointing but not really surprising. Can't really complain as it cost me nowt. Odd about the A7800 frame number on the rear dropout though??
