Annoying clicking noise

I ride a Scott sportster P4 and it has just started making a clicking noise on each revolution of the pedals. This occurs when the right pedal is down at it's lowest, just as it starts to come up, I think the noise is coming from the left pedal side but only happens under load, so although I have checked that nothing is trapped or hitting anything it's pretty hard to accurately say where it's coming from. It doesn't do it when freewheeling so guess it's a bearing or something. As a total maintenance novice any help would be appreciated. The noise reminds me of when I used to peg a card to my spoke as a kid, bloody annoying when out in the peaceful countryside

I get exactly the same problem with my pedal. I think it is my shoe though because when I move my foot in the pedal, it eventually disappears. It happens when I put pressure on my foot and it is with my right foot.
I cannot seem to fix it, it might just be something rubbing in the pedals when you move your foot around.

Check the tightness of the bolt that holds the saddle to the seatpost. Really; they work loose and the saddle rails move and the sound travels magically down to the bottom bracket area.

Thanks, tried this the other day after another noisy ride, undid all accessible bolts in seat and handlebar area, greased and re-tightened everything,

I had an annoying clicking noise linked with pedal rotation that drove me mad for ages. Turned out it just needed a really good cleaning - plenty of MuckOff spray around the cranks and bottom bearing, and a bike brush solved the issue.

Right pedal at the bottom of its stroke ?, just check your front derailleur cable end isnt sticking out and striking the left crank as it passes...happened to me.

Had this problem twice now and each time the bottom bracket and bearings were at fault. First time it was a frame issue that caused the bracket to collapse. Second was faulty bearings.

Same thing happened with my new Trek bike. Took it to LBS for first free service, They told me that it's a common problem that the factory don't tighten them enough. You'd have thought that the LBS woud rectify this before hand..... Cambridge Trek dealer on Trumpington street.......

i have this on one of my bikes. turns out its the chain-ring to crank bolts. take them out, clean, grease and re-fit and it goes away for a year :becool:

got a more annoying "creak" coming from the front end of my Boardman. im sure its something to do with the carbon fork. pees me off so much im thinking of fitting an Ali fork
