has anyone done much cycling around Anglesey? I want to take Mrs Mythste on a little confidence building mini tour and Anglesey seems reasonably flat with plenty of camping spots.

We'd get the train to Holyhead and pitch up in one of the many sites round that way then use that as a base to go find some nice views/beaches etc.

Just looking for advice on if it's worth it, if there are any giant hills to avoid and the like!

Thanks!

I've done a bit on Anglesey. It isn't flat. it's not as hilly as the Flintshire hills but it is up and down. However it is lovely to cycle on, with lots of quite lanes. Me and my lads did a mini tour of it about four years ago. The write up is below and includes some links to NCN paths and campsites. Might be useful.

That's really useful mate, thanks! I'd noticed the amount of cycle routes which helps as she's not so confident around traffic - are the surfaces generally suitable for road tyres?

Yes. No worse than the coast path to Llandudno. Some of the lanes are a bit green in the middle and the surface a bit broken in places but you could easily manage on a road bike.

I live in Llanfairpwll. There's an absolute wealth of back roads to choose from. You'll find generally that the central roads above Llyn Alaw in the North would be suitable for your wife, being very quiet. Our cycling group also runs a relaxed pace ride Sunday morning 10am and evening rides on Wednesday from Edinburgh Woolen Mills shop at Llanfairpwll station that you are welcome to join.
